#12 Camels Place Fourth at Moody Trophy and Barnett Trophy Regattas

WAKEFIELD, R.I.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team enjoyed a successful weekend of competition. The Camels, who are ranked #12 in the latest Sailing World Magazine national ranking presented by Sperry Top-Sider, placed fourth in the 18 team field at the Moody Trophy Regatta at the University of Rhode Island with a score of 136 points. Roger Williams University won the regatta with a winning score of 99 points. Tufts University placed second with 103 points and Yale University scored 112 points en route to its third place finish. Sophomore skipper Kevin Martland (Newport, R.I.) and senior Elizabeth Wilsterman (Winchester, Mass.) teamed up for a third place finish in the A division with a score of 48 points. In the B division, Atlantic Brugman (Barcelona, Spain), Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y.) scored 88 points en route to their 11th place showing. The Camels headed north to the state of Maine to sail in the Nicholas J. Barnett Trophy Regatta at Bowdoin College. The Camels placed fourth in the 15 team field with a score of 85 points. The Big Green from Dartmouth College held off the Polar Bears of Bowdoin by a single point to win the regatta with a score of 54 points. Tufts University placed third with 60 points in the regatta. Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.), Ian Schottlaender (Darien, Conn.), Kim Bolick and Katie St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) all contributed to an eighth place finish and score of 55 points in the A division. Senior Brendan Heussler (Annapolis, Md.) and first year crew Lea Bushnell cruised to a fourth place finish in the B division with a score of 30 points for Connecticut College.
