NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Williams College field hockey team earned a 3-0 NESCAC victory at Connecticut College Sunday afternoon.
The Ephs improve to 5-6 with a 2-5 record in the NESCAC, while the Camels fall to 6-6 with a 2-6 mark in league play.
First year forward Katie Jolin (Guilford, Conn.) tallied a goal and an assist for the winning side.
Betsy Hart (New Canaan, Conn.) and Caitlin Conlon (Sudbury, Mass.) chipped in with score for the visitors. Emily Jablonski (Madison, Conn.) dished out two assists in the triumph.
Sophomore net-minder Ariana Spiliotes (Bethesda, Md.) had six saves in the shutout for the visitors.
Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) finished with seven saves in the setback for the hosts.
Hart put the visitors on the board with 8:57 remaining in the opening half, finishing in a 3-on-1 situation from close range. Conlon added an insurance marker 4:32 in the second stanza and the Ephs added a third goal to close out the 3-0 victory.
Connecticut College junior Kelsey Nickerson (Weston, Mass.) contributed a defensive save in the loss.
The Camels continue to get strong defensive play from seniors Kelly Watkns (San Jose, Calif.) and Liz Rosenfeld (Leola, Pa.).
Both teams will continue to scramble for one of the final spots in the 2011 NESCAC Championship Tournament. Williams will return home to host Hamilton College Wednesday night for a 6:00 p.m. conference tilt in Williamstown.
The Camels will host intra-state rival Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. game in New London.
