#17 Coed Camels Top 17 Team Field to Win Penobscot Bay Open Regatta
CASTINE, Maine.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team opened the fall season in in the state of Maine with the Penobscot Bay Open. The Camels, who are ranked #17 in the Sailing World's college pre-season national rankings presented by Sperry Top-Sider, topped the 17 team field to win the regatta.
Tufts University placed second with 112 points with the Big Green of Dartmouth College finishing third with 119 points.
Junior skipper Kevin Martland, Grace Medley and Ellis Tanissi coasted to victory with a score of 37 points in the A division. In the B division, rookie skipper Pearson Potts, Kim Bolick and Kim Arabia placed fifth with a score of 67 points.
A little closer to home, the fourth ranked Connecticut College women's sailing team was in action at the Toni Deutsch '58 Regatta at MIT. The Camels placed 11th out of 15 teams with a score of 267 points.
Yale University won the regatta with a score of 101 points.
Second year skipper Liz Dubovik, Lea Bushnell and Bettina Redway scored 138 points en route to a 10th place finish. In the B division, sophomore skipper Alexandra Romagnolli, Marina Sachs and Victoria Allen scored 129 points en route to their 10th place finish.
