Martin Tallies 10 Kills & 20 Digs for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Williams College volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory against Connecticut College in the conference opener for both teams played at Luce Field House Friday night. The Ephs improve their record to 5-1 (1-0 NESCAC) , while the Camels drop their first match of the season, falling to 5-1.
The Camels bounced back from a 25-21 loss in game one to win in convincing fashion in the second game by a 25-12 margin. But the Ephs grinded out the next two games, holding off the hosts with 25-22 and 25-20 wins to come away with the victory.
Claire Miller (Wilmette, Ill.) and Emily Baratta (San Diego, Calif.) both had eight kills to lead the Ephs in the frontcourt. Catherine Egan (New York, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills and eight solo blocks. First year setter Ryan Farley (La Jolla, Calif.) dished out a match-high 37 assists to go with five digs for the victors.
Connecticut College senior Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) contributed 14 kills and eight digs for the hosts. Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) registered a double-double with 10 kills and 20 digs. Carly Guiducci (Del Mar, Calif.) added 11 digs and senior setter Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out 30 assists.
