Beers (8th Place) & Wesley (19th Place) Lead Camels to Fifth Place Finish at Wesleyan
MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's cross country team visited Long Lane Farm to compete in the Wesleyan University 5k Invitational Saturday. Head Coach Ned Bishop's squad scored 132 points en route to its fifth place finish in the 11 team field of competition. Results .
The Cardinals of Wesleyan scored 49 points to pull out the victory on their home course. Bowdoin College placed second with 60 points while the Pioneers of Smith College landed in third place with a score of 85 points.
Ariana Beers (Fayetteville, N.Y.) posted a time of 19:41 to lead the Camels in 8th place. It marked the second time Beers finished among the top 10 in her first three weeks of action. Senior Michelle Wesley (Millwood, N.Y.) checked in with a 19th place finish in 20:10. Emily Winter (Easton, Conn.) was 28th in Saturday's action with a time of 20:26.
Nicole Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) posted a time of 20:58 to place 44th overall as the fourth Camel to cross the finish line. Anna Laurence (Newton, Mass.) was 47th with a time of 21:11. Sophomore Heather Rochford (Red Bank, N.J.) chipped in with a time of 21:40 in 63rd place. Anna Curtis-Heald (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) rounded out the top seven with a time of 21:41 in 64th place.
The Camels will train for the next two weeks before they return to action October 6 in Western Massachusetts at the Westfield State University Invitational. On the 13th of October, the Camels return to their home course in Waterford to host the Connecticut College Invitational at scenic Harkness State Park.
