LeDuc Leads Camels to Seventh Place Finish at Williams Invitational
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College men's cross country team visited Western Massachusetts to compete in the Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock High School. Junior track and field All-American Mike LeDuc (Canton, Conn.) posted a time of 26:24 on the 8k course to finish seventh in the field of 208 runners. The Camels placed seventh out of the 17 teams that scored with 201 points. Results .
Williams College, the 11th ranked team in the nation, placed four of its runners among the top 16 to win on its home course with a score of 39 points. The ninth ranked Middlebury College Panthers placed second with a score of 72 points.
Connecticut College senior Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was the second Camel finisher and 27th runner to conquer the hilly terrain in 27:08. Sophomore Patrick Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) continued to build on his successful start to 2012, posting a time of 27:51 en route to a 49th place finish for the Camels. Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) was the 67th finisher in 28:04.
Freshman Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) was next in 72nd place with a time of 28:11. Junior Drew Majkut (Upton, Mass.) posted a time of 28:17 to finish in 83rd place. Brad DeMarco (Weston, Conn.) was the 100th finisher in 28:34. Mike Joyce (Wallingford, Conn.) completed the course of 28:59 as the 121st runner and eighth Camel to the finish line.
"I am very pleased with how the men ran today at Williams," Connecticut College Head Men's Cross Country Coach/Assistant Head Coach of Track & Field Jim Butler said.
The Camels finished in front of the 30th ranked team in the nation, RPI, who placed 12th in the 17 team field.
