Schroff Tallies 16 Kills & Eight Digs for Camels
Hartford, Conn. -- (Trinity College Sports Information) Senior co-captain Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) notched a game-high 16 kills with a .351 hitting percentage and added eight digs and three blocks to lead the visiting Connecticut College Camels to a 3-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity, ranked No. 9 in New England, falls to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC with its first loss in three matches, while the Camels, ranked No. 5 in the region, improve to 13-2 with their third win in a row.
Connecticut College never trailed in the first set, taking a 25-11 victory, but Trinity used a 5-0 run, including two on a pair of aces by first-year MH Katie Giddens (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.), to turn a 15-15 tie into a 20-15 lead and scored the final three points of the second set for a 25-18 win. The Camels turned the tables with the scored tied at 8-8 in set three, going on a 6-0 run to take a 14-8 lead en route to a 25-18 win. Connecticut College freshman OH Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) recorded two kills during the 6-0 run and scored six of the Camels 17 points after the 8-all tie. Connecticut College jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the fourth set and finished with a 25-11 triumph.
Junior co-captain OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) paced the Bantams with seven kills against zero errors, and added a team-high 10 digs, while senior co-captain OH Danielle Isaman (Warrenton, Va.) added six kills and four blocks. Martin finished with 13 kills, three aces, and 12 digs, and senior S Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) registered 37 assists and nine digs for Connecticut College.
