Connecticut College’s coed sailing team is racing for a national championship Friday.

The Camels, ranked #16 nationally, are tied for 16th place at the 79th Annual Intercollegiate Sailing Association/Gill National Dinghy Championship in St. Mary’s City, Md. The team scored 228 points in the first day of the finals regatta on Thursday.
In the A division, Kevin Martland ’14, Jordan Bothwick ’15, Lea Bushnell ’15 and Grace Medley ’15 scored 112 points, while the B division crew of I.G. Schottlaender ’14, Bryce Kopp ’16, Benjamin Meyers ’15, Kim Bolick ’15 and David Rex ’14 scored 116.
The Camels have reached the national championship regatta three times in the last four years. This year’s race to the national championship featured an impressive showing in the national semifinals where the Camels finished first out of 18 teams in the East regatta.
