Connecticut College named a ‘Great Place to Work’

Connecticut College is featured as a “Great Place to Work” by Connecticut Magazine in its November 2014 issue. The College is one of only 17 companies and organizations in Connecticut to earn this distinction.

In the article, Connecticut Magazine writes, “Connecticut College offers employees a tight-knit, culturally rich, inclusive, educational community and free or discounted access to theater, dance, music, lectures and athletics events, as well as opportunities for community service.”

The magazine highlights the generous employee benefits Connecticut College provides, including health and dental benefits with sliding-scale employee contributions, and a contribution equal to 10 percent of base salary to retirement annuity accounts that doesn’t require an employee match. In addition, the College also contributes to a health savings account for future retirement medical expenses; offers tuition benefits for employees, spouses and dependent children; and provides wellness programs that include free access to a state-of-the-art fitness center.

“One of the best aspects of Connecticut College is the community. And so we strive to make this a place where everyone wants to work,” said President Katherine Bergeron. “We are very pleased to receive this recognition.”

Connecticut Magazine’s editors were responsible for selecting the employers featured in “Great Places to Work.” “We came up with this list independently,” they explained. “We sought suggestions via this magazine, our website and social-media outlets, talked to employment professionals and researched top companies in the region. We then investigated each workplace in depth before including it here.”
