High marks – Connecticut College earns national recognition

The fall semester hasn’t started yet, and Connecticut College is already receiving high grades from prominent national publications and websites.

The College’s career program, LGBTQ-friendly campus and the dining experience have garnered praise and inclusion on several “best of” lists for 2014. Each list was revealed in August, complete with detailed explanations of what sets Connecticut College apart in each category.

Connecticut College was recently named by Princeton Review one of the top colleges for career services in North America, the only New England liberal arts college to receive this distinction. The comprehensive four-year career program helps students develop a roadmap for the education and careers, complementing the academic rigor of the classroom. For many students, the highlight is a College-funded internship that has opened doors to opportunities throughout the world.

Campus Pride, in conjunction with the Huffington Post, named Connecticut College one of the friendliest campuses for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students. The College received a maximum five-star score on the Campus Pride Index, which evaluates the efforts and services institutions make to foster a safe and supportive academic life for LGBTQ students. Connecticut College was one of 50 schools included on Campus Pride’s “Best of the Best list.”

The Daily Meal has developed a taste for Connecticut College cuisine and the overall dining experience. The foodie website touted the College’s Dining Services on a list of the Best 75 Colleges for Food in America. The Daily Meal highlighted specialties like white cheese broccoli pizza as well as the efforts to offer organic food to students, faculty and staff. The ranking also praised the many special events Dining Services presents, including the annual Festivus holiday party.
