A note from the director

Portrait of Rob Richter '82, Director of Arts Programming.

The past year and a half have been unlike anything we have experienced before.  It has been devoid of live performances, which stimulate our brains and enrich our souls.  But we have been busy behind the scenes.  Our most exciting news is that Palmer Auditorium is undergoing its largest renovation since its opening in 1940.  It is slated to reopen in the winter/spring of 2022.  You will be hearing more about Palmer’s reopening as we get closer.

The other great news is that live performance is coming back and this fall we are welcoming audiences back to Connecticut College’s performance venues and galleries.  The season is filled with world-class music, dance and theater, presented by artists from a wide spectrum of cultural and creative backgrounds and perspectives.  It is unique, eclectic and innovative programming designed to engage, entertain and inspire.  You will not find programming like this anywhere else in the region.

While we are starting the year with optimism we still must be mindful of the ongoing and ever changing Covid-19 pandemic.  Connecticut College is requiring that all students, staff and faculty be vaccinated for Covid-19.  The members of the campus community are being tested weekly and masks are being required indoors regardless of vaccination status.  In keeping with Connecticut College’s Covid-19 policies all visitors to Connecticut College, including those attending events and performances, must abide by Connecticut College’s Covid-19 Protocols.  The protocols for visitors are:

ALL visitors to the campus, regardless of vaccination status, are expected to wear masks indoors at all times.

Connecticut College requires that all visitors fill out and sign an Attestation Form that states they are vaccinated against Covid-19 or have a negative test and do not have any Covid-19 symptoms. You may download a copy of the form here and bring this with you to the event.  Forms will also be available at the event.

The protocols are subject to change based on the State of Connecticut and CDC Guidance and Connecticut College policy.  For the most up-to-date information please call (860-439-2787) or email (onstage@conncoll.edu) the box office.

We look forward to welcoming you back for an engaging and healthy arts season.
