Sailing Claims Sherman Hoyt Trophy

Conn’s co-ed sailing captured the honor at Brown University in September.

Conn’s co-ed sailing team claimed victory at the Sherman Hoyt Trophy hosted by Brown University on Sept. 27. The Camels outsailed 16 teams, besting Harvard, Yale, Boston College, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, NESCAC rivals Bowdoin and Tufts and the hosting team and winning a tiebreaker over the Dartmouth Big Green.

The team scored 91 points across two racing divisions. Henry Scholz ’27 and Vivian Smith ’27 finished first in the A division totaling 40 points while picking up victories in the first and ninth races, while William Hurd ’27 and Charlotte McDonald ’29 finished third in the B division on 51 points highlighted by a first-place finish in the fourth race.
