#9 Camel Women Finish 5th out of 16 Teams at Emily Wick/Sloop Shrew Regatta

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women´s sailing team competed in the Emily Wick/Sloop Shrew Regatta on the Thames River. The ninth ranked Camels placed fifth out of 16 teams with a score of 183 points in the two day regatta. The Camels finished just 14 points behind third place Brown University, a positive sign as they head into their New England Championship this coming weekend. Sophomore Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.) and junior Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) teamed up for a sixth place finish in the A division with a score of 97 points. In the B division, first year skipper Atlantic Brugman (Barcelona, Spaine) and crewmembers Iraz Korezlioglu (Istanbul, Turkey) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y.) rallied the Camels to a third place score of 86 points. The Connecticut College Coed Sailing team hosted the New England Dinghy Championship in New London. The Camels finished 12th out of 18 teams with a score of 333 points. Boston College captured the New England crown with a winning score of 85 points. Tufts University placed second with 97 points and Yale University was third with a score of 103 points. Senior skipper Matt Sterett (Corpus Christi, Tex.) and Elizabeth Wilsterman (Winchester, Mass.) scored 170 points to finish 11th in the A Division. In the B Division, junior skipper Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) and Kelly Arabia (Braintree, Mass.) scored 163 points in a 10th place showing for the Camels.
