Taylor Garners First Team All-District Honors in CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Program
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior Kelsey Taylor of East Hampton, Conn. has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine District One Women´s Track & Field/Cross Country All-Academic First Team.
As a first team selection in the district, Taylor has automatically advanced to the national ballot. The Academic All-America® Team will be released Thursday, June 24. Taylor is the fourth Connecticut College student-athlete that has been named All-District this year in the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program.
For the past three years, Taylor has garnered All-New England Division III honors outdoors in the 4x800 meter relay. She has earned All-New England Division III accolades indoors for the past two seasons in the same event.
Taylor has also contributed to a pair of school records. She ran the lead leg on the 4x800 meter relay team that posted a time of 9:29.67 in 2009. In April of 2010, Taylor contributed to another school mark in the 1500 meter relay, running the lead off leg at Eastern Connecticut State University.
On the cross country trails, Taylor was the Camels´ second runner in 2009 and has been scoring with the top five in each of the past two seasons. Taylor and Faye McKenna will serve as co-captains for Connecticut College this fall.
