The Quantitative Skills Center (QSC) at Connecticut College provides and facilitates free services and resources to support students engaged in quantitative work across the curriculum. Quantitative skills encompass the proficiency to use mathematical and statistical tools in a variety of contexts.

Goals of the QSC

  1. Provide free academic support and guidance to individuals at all levels of proficiency in quantitative skills.
  2. Ensuring equitable access to resources for students of all backgrounds and learning experiences.
  3. Collaborate and engage with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to continually improve and expand quantitative support offerings.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the services offered and make appropriate changes based on findings and recommendations.

Location

We are located on the 2nd Floor of Shain Library. You are invited to use the QSC Study area to study, organize group study sessions, or attend tutoring sessions.

Semra joins our college from New Hampshire as the Director of the Quantitative Skills Center. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire, a M.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, and a B.Sc. from Middle East Technical University in Türkiye.

In this role, Semra works with colleagues across the college to identify the essential quantitative skills across disciplines and to build a strong, sustainable support infrastructure. Semra is committed to helping students achieve their career goals by strengthening their quantitative skills.
