Seniors: Need a good answer for the dreaded question "So, what are you doing next year?" Advisers in the Hale Center for Career Development are standing by to help you plan for senior year and beyond. We've got the resources, expertise and encouragement you need. Here's a checklist to get you started:

Meet with your career adviser – We are here to help you create and execute your plan, set goals, and strategize to make the most of the next three, six, nine and 12 months.

Meet with the Dean of Fellowships/Scholarships - There are opportunities for post graduate study and work through fellowship funding for students who have stellar academic records: List of Fellowships

Check your News Feed for regularly updated announcements of employer and graduate school information sessions and recruiting activity, including the Fall Recruiting Consortium, Liberal Arts Recruiting Consortium (LARC Boston) and the New York Recruiting Consortium (NYRC), as well as actual jobs being posted on a daily basis from outside employers.

Dedicate the time — A job search or graduate school application process is equivalent to the time commitment of taking another class. Expect to commit a couple of hours per day, for a total of several hours per week, to the process.

  • Employer information tables and sessions throughout the year

Use your CamelLink Resource Library — Found in the Resource tab at your CamelLink home page, the Resource Library houses many good resources that can help you explore careers (jobs, professions and industries), find actual job postings by specific field, improve your social media presence, revisit information on interviewing, networking, and professional communication, among other things.

Use lynda.com — A free resource, courtesy of an alumna, with thousands of online courses including InDesign, Excel, Photoshop and more. Look for the link on the CamelWeb home page, "My Links."

Network — Talk with friends, family, faculty and alumni about internships/postgrad plans/career interests. Use LinkedIn to find and connect with alumni and the alumni online community/directory provides information on hundreds of alumni around the country.

Request letters of recommendation — Think about whom you could ask to write you letters of recommendation or serve as a reference for future jobs and/or graduate school. Consult them now, provide a resumé or CV, and keep them updated on what you are doing. Information on requesting letters of recommendation.
