111th Convocation
Monday, August 25, 2025
4:30 PM Palmer Auditorium
Today we welcomed you not just into a college, but into a community grounded in scholarship, honor, and shared responsibility. You’ve joined a long tradition of students who have shaped Conn through curiosity, creativity, and compassion.
As we begin this new academic year together, I hope you’ll carry forward the spirit of this ceremony—one of connection, commitment, and collaboration.
And now, we close Convocation in our traditional way: by rising together to sing the Connecticut College Alma Mater.
Persephone Hall, Associate Dean of the College and our Executive Director of the Hale Center for Career Development, will lead us in song. Again, you can find the words and music on the back of your placard. After the Alma Mater, everyone, please remain seated until the College Marshal leads the platform party out of the auditorium. After the ceremony, you are invited to Harris Refectory for a community dinner.
Will you now all rise to sing . . .
