During a distinguished 43-year career, Coach Fran Shields has done just about every job involving the Camel Athletics Department. This fall, we are celebrating Fran’s dedication to Conn. Fran has held a number of positions, including Men’s Head Lacrosse Coach, Women’s Head Soccer Coach, Men’s Assistant Hockey Coach and Director of Intramurals to name a few. Check out Coach Fran’s 43-year timeline to see major milestones.
When Fran transitioned from Athletic Director to serve as inaugural the Director of the Camel Athletics Network, he had three goals for supporting our student-athletes to live, work and grow in a liberal arts environment that empowers them to develop compassion, creativity, resilience and courage:
We are making excellent progress in all of these areas. We continue to reach new heights for the Camel Athletics Fund each year, and achieve our $750K goal this year. Fran’s passion continues to provide our student-athletes with the sustainable resources they need to compete and win at the highest level.
Give your gift to commemorate Fran Shields in support of your favorite team or to the Camel Athletics Fund. A special honor roll of donors will be presented to Fran at the end of the fall semester. All Camels who give a gift in honor of Fran by November 30, 2023, will be recognized on this list of donors (without dollar amounts). Every gift is meaningful.
