Conn to host NCAA first And second round men’s soccer tournament matches

The Connecticut College Men’s Soccer team will host opening weekend NCAA Division III Tournament matches Nov. 15 and 16.

The Camels will play Saint Joseph (Conn.) in the opening round at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 on Freeman Field. Conn earned at-large selection after falling to No. 1 Tufts 1-0 in the NESCAC Championship title game. Conn enters the NCAA tournament with an overall record of 10-3-5.

The national runners-up from last season have two players in double-digit scoring, led by Marco Perugini ’27 with 15 points on five goals and five assists, while Gavin Mpiana ’27 has added 10 points on four goals and two assists. Over the course of the season, 10 different goal scorers have scored 24 goals (1.33 per game), while Conn has conceded just 12 goals in 18 games.

Defensively, TJ Krongard ’26 has started 17 of 18 games between the sticks for Conn, compiling a 0.786 save percentage, a 0.71 goals against average and seven clean sheets. 

Saint Joseph (13-4-2) is coming off a 3-2 win over Rivier in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship on Nov. 8.  The Blue Jays claimed their second straight GNAC title, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

The other first round match-up features SUNY Oneonta (12-4-4) against Babson (10-6-4) at 1:30 p.m., also on Freeman Field. The winners from each first round contest will meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16. For more information, visit camelathletics.com.
