Michael Guilfoyle named vice president for Marketing and Communications
Connecticut College has named Michael Guilfoyle, current vice president for communications and marketing at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts, as Conn’s new vice president for marketing and communications. Guilfoyle will begin his tenure on July 6.
“Michael brings nearly three decades of marketing and communications experience, with a strong record in brand strategy, marketing and crisis communications,” President Andrea E. Chapdelaine wrote in an announcement to the Conn community. “Throughout the search process, he stood out for his thoughtful and mission-driven approach.”
At Regis, where he has served since 2022, Guilfoyle led the development of a new institutional brand identity grounded in careful market research, unified the college’s communications and marketing efforts, and cultivated strong relationships with elected officials, civic leaders and community partners.
Previously, Guilfoyle was executive director of communications and spokesperson at Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he developed the institution’s first branding guidelines, created a dedicated communications program for parents and families, and significantly grew social media engagement. At Regis and Assumption, he served as the college’s primary spokesperson through reputational crises and sensitive campus situations. Earlier in his career, he served as secretary for public affairs and communications for the Diocese of Providence, supporting more than 180 affiliated organizations, and he held senior communications and public affairs roles for members of the U.S. Congress.
Guilfoyle holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from St. Anselm College and a master’s degree in strategic communications with an emphasis on marketing from Regis College. He has also served on a number of nonprofit and civic boards, including the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Fund Inc. and the Marguerite Bach Foundation.
“At a time when telling Conn’s story clearly and compellingly is more important than ever, I am confident Michael is the right leader to help us strengthen and elevate that work,” Chapdelaine said.
