Blue Economy for a Blue Planet lecture Oct. 14

Susan Avery, emerita President and Director of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, will speak on the current efforts of scientists and engineers to design tools and methods to explore the "blue economy" of the ocean's depths and understand its critical interactions with the earth's ecosystem.

The Oct. 14 event takes place in the Ernst Common Room, Blaustein Humanities Center, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The public is welcome.

Sponsored by the Sound Lab Foundation and Connecticut College Friends of the Library, the Sound Lab Lecture series seeks to bring national speakers to New London to speak on a scientific, cultural, or social topic.
