Campus renewal continues

The New London Hall construction site is bustling with activity as contractors and subcontractors work to complete the new Science Center. This $25 million transformation of the College’s oldest building is the most visible of the campus renewal projects taking place on campus this summer, many of which have been funded by the Campaign for Connecticut College.

“Our beautiful and historic campus helps us attract students and is essential to the quality of residential education,” said President Lee Higdon. “We are grateful to the many donors who have helped to make the science center possible as well as other campus improvements. This summer’s construction will support student life, organizations and activities as well as the academic program.”

This summer’s projects include:

Dorm Improvements Bathrooms are being upgraded in Blackstone and Windham; interior ceilings will be replaced in the Plex; and common room furniture will be replaced in the River Ridge Apartments, 360 Apartments and Abbey House.

Castle Court Slate will be replaced in this popular gathering spot between Palmer Auditorium and Cummings Arts Center, and the steps from Castle Court to Tempel Green will be rebuilt.

Athletics Center Renovation With funding from Campaign gifts, College will enlarge and renovate locker rooms and upgrade the training room.

Playing Fields Gift funding will also pay for new lights on the Lyn and David Silfen Track & Field. Additionally, the natural athletic fields on Tempel Green are being refurbished to meet NESCAC playing standards.
