Community invited to participate in Inauguration celebrations
The April 5 Inauguration of Connecticut College’s 11th president, Katherine Bergeron, will be a momentous occasion for the entire community. But the festivities aren’t limited to that day’s ceremony. The College is hosting many events at which staff, faculty, students, alumni, guests and members of the local community can celebrate.
Inauguration events open to the public include the following:
“Strong Foundations: Celebrating a Century of Connecticut College”
An exhibit of photos and artifacts showcasing the accomplishments of the presidents who have presided over the College since its founding in 1911.

“The Arts in the Digital Age”
Student, faculty and alumni panelists will share their experiences with technological advances that have made it possible for people to make and share creative work, and the effects of technology on the arts in contemporary culture.

“An Evening of Voice and Community”
Performances by Connecticut College students and faculty and members of the local community.

Installation Ceremony
The ceremony will include an Inaugural address by President Katherine Bergeron, “Transplanted By a River,” and a keynote speech by Ruth J. Simmons, President Emerita and Professor of Comparative Literature and Africana Studies, Brown University. Doors open at 10 a.m. and a musical prelude will begin at 10:25 a.m.

The community is invited to participate in the seventh annual Walk for the Homeless, organized by students in the College’s Holleran Center's Certificate Program in Community Action to benefit the New London Homeless Hospitality Center.
