Works by more than 25 Connecticut College student artists – ranging from vivid paintings to imaginative sculpture to ceramics, mixed media, and video and sound art – will be on display at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly during its annual visiting artist show from February 3 to February 28. The Friday, Feb. 5, opening reception from 5-8 p.m. and the exhibition are free and open to the public.

The Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly is located at 7 Canal Street in downtown Westerly, Rhode Island, and is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

“Through close relationships with faculty who are both dedicated teachers and active artists, art students at Connecticut College gain exposure to a variety of artistic philosophies and professional practices in art,” says artist and Associate Professor of Art Pamela Marks, who organized the student exhibit along with Professor of Art Timothy McDowell. “Art students seamlessly integrate liberal arts courses with a broad interdisciplinary and international studio experience. Some of our past graduates have combined photography and anthropology, painting and psychology, and design studies and gender studies, to name just a few examples. Students are free to pursue traditional, interdisciplinary or experimental approaches to art-making. Students may experiment or concentrate in a broad range of studio disciplines including ceramics, graphic design, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video and sound art.”

February’s show also features favorite works in a variety of media by ACGOW artist members.
