For the first time ever, both the Connecticut College women’s and men’s ice hockey teams will host the NESCAC Quarterfinal games on their home ice, Dayton Arena.
On Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m., the third-seeded men’s team takes on the sixth-seeded Hamilton Continentals. The Camels qualified to host the men’s quarterfinal game when they beat Colby College 4-1 last Saturday at Colby’s Alfond Rink.
This is the first home playoff game for the men’s hockey program since the conference moved to the current NESCAC standing format in 2000. Coach Jim Ward made history by leading the Camels to their first three appearances in the NESCAC Championship Tournament from 2007 to 2009.
Following the men’s game, the fourth-seeded women’s ice hockey team will take the to the Dayton Arena ice against fifth-seeded Bowdoin.
The Camels earned the highest seed in program history when they defeated Williams 4-2 last Friday night. In the 2014 NESCAC Quarterfinal round, the eighth-seeded Camels stunned top-seeded Middlebury at home in overtime, 2-1, to reach the NESCAC Semifinals for the second consecutive year.
Unlike regular season games, there is an admission fee for NESCAC Quarterfinals – adults are $3 and students are $1 or free with a valid identification from any educational institution. Dayton arena has a snack bar on the premises with coffee, hot chocolate, tonic and light snacks available for a nominal fee.
