onStage at Connecticut College presents BélO

onStage at Connecticut College presents Haitian Ragganga artist BélO on Friday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. in Evans Hall. The singer/songwriter is hailed as Haiti's musical ambassador to the world. Known for a musical style, "Ragganga," that combines reggae, jazz, rock, worldbeat and "Rara" traditional Vodou rhythms, BélO delivers sensitive messages with a sophisticated sound. "His mix of reggae with jazz and slicker pop has made him a star both at home and in Europe," wrote one reviewer in the New York Daily News. Tickets for BélO are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $11 for students. For tickets, call (860) 439-ARTS (2787) or visit http://onstage.conncoll.edu. The presentation of BélO is part of Center StageSM, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts, in cooperation with the U.S. Regional Arts Organizations, with additional support from the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation, the Asian Cultural Council and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. General Management for Center StageSM is provided by Lisa Booth Management, Inc. onStage at Connecticut College is presented with support from The National Endowment for the Arts, State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and The Day Publishing Company.
