Students choreograph and perform dances in eclectic show

The Connecticut College Dance Club will perform in three shows this week, Thursday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 22. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in the Martha Myers Dance Studio in the College Center at Crozier-Williams.

The Dance Club is run entirely by students, who produce two shows a year and teach dance classes open to all students on campus. This semester’s show, “Moving Company,” will feature modern, postmodern and contemporary pieces choreographed and performed by student dancers, solo and in groups. The dances in the show were chosen in an adjudication process that includes both dancers and non-dancers, resulting in an evening of performances that will appeal to even those who know nothing about dance.

“We have very energetic and fun pieces that even people who don’t watch that much dance can enjoy,” said Eva Vargas ’16 , one of the producers of the show.

“Many of these pieces relate to everyday life; viewers can build connections with these dances, and create their own meaning for each dance,” added her co-producer, Sasha Peterson ’16.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
