As darkness descends on the scariest night of the year, Harkness Chapel will echo with the haunting melodies of the annual Halloween Concert by Professor of Music John Anthony and friends. On Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m., Anthony will be joined by Professor of Music Paul Althouse on a duet for piano and organ by the French Composer Cesar Franck and Adjunct Professor of Music Rebecca Noreen on several spooky selections for bassoon and organ. Anthony will also perform music by Louis Vierne, a composer and principal organist at the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris. This year is the 75th anniversary of his death, which occurred while he was performing at Notre Dame. Of this beloved concert tradition, Anthony has said, "We like to showcase some spooky music, and the chapel provides just the right atmosphere. Together, the music and setting create an otherworldly experience that's perfect for Halloween." If you dare, put on a costume and come to Harkness Chapel for the concert. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors. The performance is free for Connecticut College staff, faculty and students.
