'The Well-Dressed Ape' - an Arboretum book discussion

A visit to the Connecticut College Arboretum over the summer from cheeky science writer Hannah Holmes has inspired Kathy Dame, the Arboretum's assistant director, to host a two-part lunchtime discussion of Holmes' popular book, "The Well-Dressed Ape: A Natural History of Myself." The discussion will take place over the course of two Thursdays - Oct. 11 and Oct. 18 - from noon to 1 p.m. in the lounge of F. W. Olin Science Center. "Hannah is a science journalist with a great sense of humor and a way of making science accessible to everyone," said Dame. "In 'The Well-Dressed Ape,' she casts an eye on herself and on our whole species. She compares the biology and behavior of humans with that of other creatures, exploring how the human animal fits into the natural world. The book is a wonderful read and this should be a fun and informative book discussion as we all learn a little more about what makes us tick!" In addition to "The Well-Dressed Ape," Holmes had written three other books, "Quirk," "The Secret Life of Dust" and "Suburban Safari." She has also written extensively for the Discovery Channel Online and dozens of national magazines. The book is available at the Connecticut College Bookshop.
