The Class of 1973 is invited to join Victor Arcelus, dean of student engagement, for a historic walking tour of the campus that will showcase exciting campus renovations. Explore our new campus walkways, sustainable energy sources, and the Sprout Garden in addition to exciting renovations to Fanning Hall, the Charles E. Shain Library, Olin Science Center, and Athey Center for Performance and Research at Palmer Auditorium.

2 - 3 p.m. Expanding the Herd: The Impact of Coeducation at CC: Exhibit and Gallery Talk
The decision to make Connecticut College a co-educational institution in 1969 permanently changed the College. From prompting spatial and academic growth, to the development of a more extensive athletics program, to altering college gender dynamics, the decades following the shift to co-education opened the doors to a new era for Connecticut College. College Archivist Deborah Kloiber will guide alums through an exhibit dedicated to exploring these changes, followed by a discussion. All attendees are encouraged to view the exhibit, located on the first floor of Shain Library, prior to this discussion. Come share your memories and experiences!

2 – 3:30 p.m. Teaching - Then and Now, A Class of 1973 Program
How students learn has changed radically with the common use of the internet, laptops, and now Artificial Intelligence. Has the teaching style radically changed with the changing times? What vintage methods still work? How do we measure success in education today? Professor Isaac Gottesman, Lenore Tingle Howard '42 Associate Professor of Education Department Chair, will walk us through the evolution of education.
Then we will be joined by Professor Suzuko Knott, Associate Professor of German, Director of the Toor Cummings Center for International Studies & the Liberal Arts (CISLA), who will help us explore Conn’s new curriculum, Connections, and how our alma mater is on the cutting edge of learning in the 21st century.

Prof. Rosa, George & Carol Milne Assistant Professor of Biology, will showcase the living shoreline project at the Connecticut College Waterfront. The project, Camel's Reef, is part of a project with students at Conn. It represents a small scale habitat restoration project, conceived to protect our shoreline and restore crucial habitat to the area. The project serves as a living classroom, providing experiential learning opportunities to Conn students. Trolley service to and from Waterfront is available for pickup in front of Harris Dining Hall.

3 - 4 p.m. Let's Dig! An Excavation & Research Presentation by Kathryn Bard '68, Professor Emerita of Archaeology and Classical Studies
The Class of 1968 invites all alums to learn about Kathryn’s studies and excavations at sites of two ancient African civilizations: pharaonic Egypt and Aksum, located in northern Ethiopia.

This will be a lively discussion with classmate Jay Levin '73 and Mayor Mike Passero '79. Topics include our origin as a college, when New London made the best bid of any other city; and the story of the swap of the reservoirs for the land where Shain Library sits; Claire Gaudiani and the NLDC and the little pink house; and the current battles over taxation and PILOT issues.

The College Archives is bringing back the Alumni Oral History Program to capture and preserve the stories of alums and their time at CC. We are looking for alums to volunteer either as interviewers, as interviewees, or both. Interviews typically last 20-30 minutes. No previous experience is necessary - we will provide training and some fun swag! Space is limited and registration is required. Please join us at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum for a viewing of Barkley L. Hendricks in New London with Curator, Tanya Pohrt on hand. Formerly - and famously - Professor of Studio Art at Conn, the internationally celebrated Barkley L. Hendricks (1945–2017) is best known for his expressive, large-scale portraits, many from the 1970s, which present a powerful vision of modern Black identity. With 35 works of art on view, including a number of photographs, this exhibition explores and honors the range and breadth of Hendricks’ artistic production.
