Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary major that combines topics in psychology, biology, chemistry, philosophy and other disciplines. The relationship between the brain's function and the behavior we can readily see in each other is examined at multiple levels of analysis, from how a cell functions to how a facial expression conveys trust or fear.

A professor in the College's neuroscience program makes the connection between neurons and knitting in her classes. An avid knitter and spinner and a founding member of the Camel Knitters Guild, Professor Ruth Grahn teaches her behavioral neuroscience students to knit, and in the process fosters their knowledge of brain functioning.
