The Holleran Center's Program in Community Action (PICA) internship is traditionally done during the summer after the junior year and is the experiential pinnacle of the PICA experience. During the summer internship, scholars put into action the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. The Center provides a $3,000 stipend to scholars to fund living and travel expenses.
Many PICA scholars choose internships that are connected to their senior thesis or individual study in their chosen majors. If the student's research requires interaction with others through interviews or experiments, the student should consult the following links concerning the Institutional Review Board (IRB). (CamelWeb login required.)
There are many resources available to scholars for identifying internships. PICA scholars take advantage of the resources at the Hale Center for Career Development and in the Holleran Center office.
