Connecticut College graduate featured in global scholars publication
When the Office of College Relations started asking alumnae and alumni for memorabilia from the College's past, it didn't take long for treasures to arrive in the mail.
Alumnae contributed photos of the 1952 senior picnic, invitations to dances and clippings from The College News. They also sent a 50th Reunion booklet printed by the Class of 1927, a Winthrop Scholar certificate, a decorative map of the campus from the early 1930s and a letter offering admission to a student in the Class of 1954.
"Every photo, every clipping, every letter opens a window into our history. It's fascinating to see the continuity across the years -- the emphasis on academic excellence and the importance of community," said Patricia M. Carey, vice president for College Relations.
Her office is asking for the memorabilia for use in displays during the College's Centennial next year. Afterward, items will be contributed to the College Archives. Contributions from all generations are welcome. So far, all of the donations have been from alumnae in earlier decades.
