Already this season, the men´s and women´s basketball teams have posted impressive performances on the court. Both teams are now gearing up for New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play, where they will face some of the strongest Division III teams in nation. The women´s team will head into conference play with a strong 7-5 record, only one win shy of last year´s win total. Leading the team is new head coach Brian Wilson, who has a background in Division I basketball. The team also has other advantages this year. The team did not lose any players to graduation last year, and the freshmen are already having a positive impact on the close-knit team, captain Rita Holak ´10 said. "Every player on this team came here with the idea that we would be the ones to bring Connecticut College Women´s Basketball from the bottom of the NESCAC to the top-this is the year it is going to happen," Holak added. The men´s basketball team is also heading in to the NESCAC season on a high note, having won five of its last seven games. "We try to improve every day and learn all we can about our execution and potential game situations," coach Tom Satran ´94 said. "We face one of the toughest league schedules in the country, which is made more intense by a single round robin format. We are always trying to prepare ourselves for the rigors of that schedule." Both teams will open NESCAC play against Trinity College tonight in Hartford, Conn. Women´s hoops takes on Trinity at 6 p.m., while the men tip off at 8 p.m.
