"The Office" writer/executive producer to speak on campus

Bring your Dwight Schrute bobbleheads!

Lee Eisenberg '99, writer and co-executive producer of Emmy-winning TV show "The Office," will kick off a new speaker series at the College. "Great Beginnings: Conversations with Alumni" was created to commemorate the Centennial, but will continue beyond 2011 as a celebration of alumni achievement. And Eisenberg, an English major, is certainly a good example of achievement.

In addition to his work on "The Office," he has written scripts for other television shows and feature films, and he and his writing partner have been tapped to write the screenplay for "Ghostbusters III." He was dubbed "one of Hollywood's hottest young comedy writers" by the Boston Globe and, in the same article, writer-director Harold Ramis praised Eisenberg and his partner for their success in a particular niche. "They write dumb characters really intelligently," said Ramis. "People can say the dumbest things but they're so clever and surprising it makes you laugh and not have contempt."

Eisenberg's campus appearance is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 28, at 8:15 p.m. in John C. Evans Hall, Cummings Arts Center. Don't miss it!
