VIDEO: Anthropology students visit local farms to explore alternative agriculture

Viewers can follow students from anthropology professor Jeffrey Cole’s “Cultivating Change” class to a local farm in the latest installment of the @ConnCollegeLive student experience video series.

As part of the anthropology course, teams of students visit local farms and conduct research interviews with beginning farmers in New London County.

“They gain experience with the research process and they learn about research methodology,” Cole said. “There is really no substitute for learning by doing.”

Andrew Sowle ’13 said “Cultivating Change” is definitely a unique class.

“It’s a special experience to really be able to get off campus to do this type of research,” he said.

The @ConnCollegeLive student experience series is a video blog that provides an inside look at the lives of Connecticut College students and invites viewers to provide feedback, ask questions or suggest video topics on social media using the hashtag #CCexperience.
