Like the rest of the Class of 2014, Michael LeDuc will walk away on Sunday with a milestone accomplished and a degree in hand. By next week, he just might run away with another NCAA championship and steeplechase record.

LeDuc will run the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Division III track and field championships at Ohio Wesleyan University. An eight-time All-American and two-time national championship in cross-country and track and field, he has the fastest recorded time (8:47.94) in the steeplechase in 2014 for all of Division III. If he can cut his time down to 8:40, he will qualify for the USA Track and Field steeplechase championship in June.

A native of Canton, Conn., LeDuc’s academic performance is on par with his athletic success. He will graduate Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in botany and will move to Illinois to teach high school biology.

LeDuc’s success has drawn considerable news coverage. The Hartford Courant ran a lengthy article in early May, and this week both NBC 30 and Fox 61 profiled LeDuc. He will also be featured in the upcoming edition of CC: Magazine, the College’s alumni magazine.

LeDuc will first compete in the preliminary race on Thursday, May 22, at 5 p.m. The finals are Saturday, May 24, at approximately 1:20 p.m. Both races will be live-streamed on the NCAA's website. To watch live, visit www.ncaa.com/liveschedule/.
