Our vibrant certificate program in Environmental Sustainability is a selective interdisciplinary program open to students from all majors.
The engaging, academically challenging experience combines weekly, interdisciplinary discussion based seminars, a sophomore year service learning course and project, a relevant junior year internship and an independent senior environmental research project of their choosing.
Certificate program scholars are able to delve into and explore their chosen topic in depth with a faculty research advisor, exploring across the liberal arts curriculum while also taking advantage of the robust environmental programming that the center hosts.
With unparalleled faculty, staff and center support, our program educates and prepares students for real-world contemporary situations in which environmental issues play a significant role. Evident in our amazing scholars and alumni, our program facilitates a supportive community of forward thinkers and passionate environmental leaders.
How and when do students apply to the certificate program?
Students apply to the certificate program in the fall of their sophomore year, and if accepted, begin their course of study in the spring semester; continuing with the program each semester through senior year. Scholars are allowed one semester of seminar off during their junior year to study abroad, or simply to take a break.
Upon completion of the program requirements, scholars receive a Certificate in Environmental Sustainability in addition to their diploma from the College.
