Connecticut College offers student employment both on and off-campus. There are three categories of student employment:
1. Federal Work Study
Amount of aid: The federal government will pay 75% of a student’s wages.
Who is eligible: Eligibility is based on calculated financial need as determined by a review of the FAFSA and other supporting documents. If applicable, the student’s financial aid package will list the amount of eligibility from this program. International students are not eligible for Federal Work Study.

2. Federal Community Service Work Study
Amount of aid: The federal government will pay 100% of a student’s wages for selected community service work in New London or Norwich.
Who is eligible: Eligibility is based on financial need as determined by a review of the FAFSA and other supporting documents.
Where to find these jobs: Handshake. These positions are listed as Experiential Learning under Type.
3. Connecticut College Student Employment (Non-Work Study)
Amount of aid: Connecticut College will pay 100% of a student’s wages.
Who is eligible: Any student can apply for this type of employment. However, the number of these jobs is limited.
Where to find these jobs: Jobs will be listed on Handshake. Students often find employment with such departments as dining services, catering, admission and theater services.
Note:
Your Federal Work-Study (FWS) funding is be earned by working in a department on campus should you choose to work. FWS funds are not paid toward your tuition bill. When awarded FWS, 75% of your pay comes from the federal government and 25% comes from the department you work for. Departments that do not have the budget to pay 100% student wages will hire FWS students only. These funds are paid directly to you. Most students utilize these funds for books, supplies, transportation, and other miscellaneous items. Your decision to work or wait a semester does not have a negative impact on your current or future financial aid or federal work study eligibility.
