Taking Self-Scheduled Exams

Detailed information about how to take self-scheduled exams is available here. Be sure that you have familiarized yourself with all steps prior to taking an exam and understand exam procedures

  • The designated Exam Distribution Center is Ernst Common Room in Blaustein Humanities Center (lower level)
  • Exams are issued from and must be returned to the Exam Distribution Center. Students show a photo ID (Camel ID card, license, or passport) and check out the exam.
  • Students have three hours to take the exam. Exams must be returned to a staff member in the Exam Distribution Center within three hours to be in compliance with exam procedures.
  • Students take exams in Blaustein rooms designated as exam classrooms
  • A limited number of timers will be available on loan in the Exam Distribution Center for students who need assistance in keeping track of their time.  Cell phones and other internet connected devices may not be used as timers. Accurate clocks are in exam classrooms.
  • Cell phones, ipads, tablets, laptops, smart watches or any devices with internet connection are not permitted in exam classrooms.
  • There are internet connected tablets available in the Exam Distribution Center so that students can scan the QR code to check out an exam. You may use a cell phone in the Exam Distribution Center to scan the QR code. However, students must leave their cell phones, any other internet connected devices, and backpacks in the Exam Distribution Center and collect them after they have returned from taking their exam.
  • The Exam Distribution Center is locked when not in use
  • Students may not leave the exam building with an exam in their possession
  • Students with accommodations take their exams in the ARC. They must communicate with SAS prior to the SAS deadline if they will not be using their accommodation.
  • If a student is required to have proctored exams, those exams are to be completed in the ARC and are not available in Blaustein

Blaustein (Ernst) Exam Distribution Center Operating Hours

Students may report to the Exam Distribution Center any time that the center is open but must allow enough time to complete the exam before the center closes for the day. Students have three hours to check back in and return an exam to be in compliance with exam procedures.

The Exam Distribution Center closes at 5:30 p.m. on the first four days and 12 p.m. (noon) on the last day - all exams must be returned to the Exam Distribution Center by these closing times. Students who pick up exams after 2:30 p.m. on the first four days, or after 9:00 a.m. on the last day will only have the remaining time (less than 3 hours) before the Exam Distribution Center closes to complete and return their exam. Final examinations for seniors end at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Seniors should plan accordingly.

The time you pick up your exam and return it will be recorded by an exam staff member. You are responsible for monitoring your time and finishing within the time limit.
