R. Danielle Egan, the Fuller-Maathai Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Intersectionality Studies at Connecticut College, is Dean of the Faculty and Chief Academic Officer. The highest-ranking officer after the president, the Dean of the Faculty is responsible for providing academic leadership for the College and its faculty.

Associate Dean of the Faculty, Professor of Biology

Deborah supports department chairs on the hiring of visiting and adjunct faculty and coordination of visiting committees for departmental 10-year reviews and self studies. She is responsible for tracking sabbatical eligibility and supporting the Committee on Faculty Compensation (CFC) in reviewing sabbatical requests. Deborah oversees faculty funding and professional development opportunities through the R.F. Johnson Faculty Development Fund, Susan Eckert Lynch ’62 Faculty Research Fund, the Elizabeth McGuire and Anthony T. Enders Fund, and the Research Matters Fund. She serves on the Academic Administrative Procedure Committee (AAPC) and the Facilities and Land Management Committee (FLMC) and convenes the Calendar Committee as well as the New Faculty Orientation Committee.

Director of Faculty Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, William Meredith Assistant Professor of Psychology

As Director of Faculty Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Nakia will serve as a member of the Dean of the Faculty Office staff collaborating with the Dean and Associate Dean and the ombuds to continue, and deepen, work on equity and full participation and to develop policies, practices, and interventions, which reflect and intentionally promote best practices in creating inclusive communities that aim to improve the sense of belonging of faculty from minoritized identities and/or cultures. Nakia’s work will focus on studying and addressing equity, access, and inclusion in the culture and practices of the division of academic affairs–most specifically in classrooms and departments, and faculty committees. In addition, she will collaborate with the DIEI Division to fully realize and implement the Institutional Equity and Inclusion Action Plan goals on Curriculum, Teaching, and the Faculty Experience and the Anti- Racist Education and Action.

As Senior Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty Office, Amanda manages calendaring needs for both the Dean of the Faculty and the Associate Dean of the Faculty; email distribution to allfac and votefac listservs; special events including Endowed Chair dinners, Faculty@Work, new faculty orientation, faculty awards, and the annual retiree reception; and provides administrative support to the Associate Dean of the Faculty including hiring authorization letters, visiting committee scheduling, faculty office assignments, and supporting department administrative assistants. As Secretary to the Faculty, Amanda provides administrative support for faculty governance to faculty committees, including the Faculty Steering and Conference Committee; she staffs faculty meetings, records legislative and curricular changes in IFF: Information for Faculty, Administrators and Trustees, maintains the “pink sheet”, and manages the committee roster and membership on the faculty listservs. 



Jeanette Barrett-Hall

Budget Manager and Faculty Hiring Specialist

As Budget Manager, Jeanette manages the Dean of the Faculty operating budget and special use funds (start-up, endowed chair, RF Johnson, Research Matters, Lynch Funds, etc.) and works closely with all areas of the Dean of the Faculty division on budget management for operating and restricted fund use. She approves PCard and CTW one source transactions on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty and supports the Associate Dean of the Faculty and the Committee on Faculty Compensation (CFC) on review and approvals for Research Matters, RF Johnson, and Faculty Student Engagement funds. As Faculty Hiring Specialist, Jeanette works with the Associate Dean of the Faculty and academic departments on hiring and onboarding of adjunct and visiting faculty and processes course overloads for continuing faculty. She liaises with key campus partners (HR, Finance and Payroll offices) on budget and hiring processes.

As Director of Operations, Jenny provides day-to-day operational leadership for the Dean of the Faculty Office and provides administrative support to the Dean of the Faculty. Additionally, she supports the Committee on Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure (CAPT); works with department chairs and admin assistants on continuing faculty (tenure-track, lecturers, continuing part-time faculty, Head Coaches) searches including managing Interfolio and onboarding of new continuing faculty; oversees faculty stipends and one-time payments; tracks sabbatical eligibility and processes sabbatical and leave of absence requests; supports the Committee on Academic Affairs of the Board of Trustees; manages endowed chair appointments with the Dean of the Faculty and CAPT; analyzes and reports on faculty salary data; works with key campus partners (HR, Budget, and Payroll offices) on Dean of the Faculty division employment, benefits, and payroll matters; and supports the Dean of the Faculty on Department Chair, Center Director, and Program Director appointments, the staffing plan, and special ad-hoc committees and task forces.
