Expectations: The Pam Mendelsohn Collection of Instructive Books for Women

Expectations: The Pam Mendelsohn Collection of Instructive Books for Women explores instructional texts used since the mid-19th century to shape ideals for girls and women. Visitors will discover the evolving standards women were expected to follow to mold themselves into the "perfect" woman, mother, daughter, sister, or spouse. The exhibition is on display on the first floor of Shain Library, made possible by Pamela Mendelsohn's, '66, generous donation to the Linda Lear Center. The exhibition is located on the first floor of the Shain Library.
