Fall Weekend 2014: A celebration of community
More than 1,300 alumni, parents and friends gathered for Connecticut College's annual Fall Weekend, Oct. 10-12. They got a taste of life on campus by participating in faculty-led seminars, browsing Harvestfest for Camel-themed novelties, talking with distinguished alumni and cheering on the College's athletic teams.
Though Fall Weekend didn't officially kick off until Friday, the campus came alive on Thursday night. A concert at the newly refurbished MOBROC Barn included a memorable performance by President Katherine Bergeron, her husband Butch Rovan, and student musicians. "The experience really was surreal and thrilling for everyone present — faculty, staff, students and parents," said Drew Andre '16, one of the student performers.
Friday morning brought the traditional Fall Weekend celebration. Early events included an update on the Shain Library renovation, a Career Enhancing Life Skills (CELS) drop-in for alumni, a faculty keynote and a Japanese art demonstration at the President's house.

Friday night was all about the students. The College's seven a cappella groups performed two shows to packed houses in Harkness Chapel, while Luce Field House played host to the women's volleyball team in a match against Trinity. The match was one of two athletic events during that weekend that raised awareness about the College's Green Dot program, part of a national initiative that works to end sexual assault on college campuses.

Rain fell on Saturday, but did little to dampen the mood of the campus. The day's events were well attended, including a series of Saturday seminars, President Bergeron’s State of the College address, and the Connecticut College Alumni of Color (CCAC) luncheon, which featured a conversation with filmmaker André Lee '93.

A Fall Weekend favorite, Harvestfest, drew huge crowds, while the rain stopped just in time for the men's Green Dot soccer game against Tufts. Parents and students also took time to hear alumni presentations and meet with faculty.
