As part of the Division of Retention and Success, the Office of Civil Rights and Belonging encompasses the Offices of Civil Rights, Religious and Spiritual Life, Community Advocacy & Sexual Health, and Campus Belonging Initiatives. The work of this subdivision spans across our collective efforts toward intentional community-building, care, support and open dialogue to enhance the retention and success of all students, staff and faculty at Connecticut College.

Megan D. Monahan (she/her) serves as the AVP for Retention and Success & Associate Dean for Civil Rights at Connecticut College where she leads institutional policy and provides expert consultation to prevent inequity across the campus community. With over a decade of experience in civil rights compliance, she holds the roles of the College’s Title IX, VI, and ADA/504 Coordinators. Her work sits at the intersection of legal compliance and student, faculty, and staff success, where she supervises Campus Belonging Initiatives, Community Advocacy and Sexual Health, and Religious and Spiritual Life to ensure every member of the college community can thrive.

Prior to joining Connecticut College in 2023, Dean Monahan held the role of Senior Director of Equity at Fairfield University. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English literature from Bryn Mawr College and a juris doctor degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law.
