Most Slavic studies majors study abroad during their junior year on one of the following approved programs:

  • The Bard-Smolny Program in St. Petersburg
  • The School of Russian and Asian Studies (SRAS), with programs in nine locations
  • The Moscow Art Theater Semester (MATS)
  • Math in Moscow
  • American Councils in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladimir

In addition to these programs, the department encourages shorter-term travel and research trips to Russia and other Slavic countries. Over the past decade, the department has led four fully-funded, course-based TRIPs (Travel Research Immersion Programs) to Russia for students taking the Elementary Russian sequence (in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2014).
