Project/Mission Statement:
“Our Stolen Futures” refers to promises of the future for marginalized communities being sacrificed for the sake of technological advancement with its roots in creating a more “Western” future. In pursuing the documentation of my identity as a Chicano with a deep history intertwined with the US’s involvement with Mexico, this solo storytelling experience acts as a call to action to dream of a future made for us. Using projection mapping, Arduino, and motors for immersion and active pieces of technology in a piece critical of technology. In this solo performance of personal stories and lessons, this project exists to envision what these “Stolen Future” could be.
