Hope and Harmony

This year’s holiday greeting is a unique virtual performance by a group of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni to mark the 100th anniversary of the Connecticut College Alma Mater, composed by Edith Smith, Class of 1920, to words by Olive Littlehales, Class of 1921.

Winter Programs

Continue your academic journey over Winter Break. The Hale Center, Walter Commons, the Academic Resource Center (Fast Forward) and the DIEI are offering programs and events open to students from all class years. The remote programs are available at no cost and, with approval, they may be considered for your Global/Local engagement experience. Check back periodically for new listings.

An intensive five-day, one credit course that prepares students for competitive internships and jobs in finance—and qualifies students for additional career funding.  Global Virtual Service Learning Program

Sponsored by the Walter Commons, Jan. 18-29. Provides nearly 60 internship opportunities for students working with community partners around the globe in the areas of climate change, public health, community development, and racism and xenophobia.  Application Contact: global@conncoll.edu

 The Road to Graduate School

Sponsored by the Hale Center, Jan. 21, noon-1:30 p.m. In this interactive session, students will explore graduate school myths vs. facts, as well as the big questions surrounding graduate school—Should I go to graduate school, and where? How do I apply to graduate school and what do application materials look like? How do I pay for graduate school? What are the impacts of COVID-19 on graduate school?  Global COVID Project

Student-driven international student research project designed to help students better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on communities throughout the globe. Based on their areas of interest, students will be placed in international research teams along with undergraduate peers from Ashesi University (Ghana), Ashoka College (India), the Higher School of Economics (Russia), and Morningside College (Hong Kong). ALUMNI

Connecticut College boasts 25,000 alumni living in all 50 states and in 74 nations around the world. Conn alumni have won Academy Awards and Olympic medals; are prominent judges, lawyers and politicians; have founded nonprofits whose work changes lives; lead global corporations and are internationally known writers, artists and filmmakers.

ATHLETICS

Connecticut College is a member of the NCAA Division III and the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).  There are 28 varsity sports programs, 15 for women, 12 for men, and a coed sailing team.  Sports for both genders include basketball, cross country, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field and water polo.  There are women’s varsity programs in field hockey, sailing, and volleyball.

The College affirms the principles of NESCAC, whose members “are committed first and foremost to academic excellence and believe that our athletic programs must always support our educational mission.”  It is the intent of our intercollegiate athletics program to compete at the highest level and strive for NESCAC and NCAA championships.
