The Department of Slavic Studies hosts a number of annual events for its students and for the campus at large. Some of the most popular are:
- trips to New York City to view Russian and Ukrainian exhibits, theater, and opera performances
- winter and spring holiday celebrations with Slavic cuisine
- film screening of Russian and Slavic films
- community reading groups of award-winning authors from the region
- student cooking events
- Campus-visits by renowned intellectuals, among them Yevgenia Albats, M Gessen, Gary Shteyngart, Timothy Snyder
