Dear members of the Connecticut College community,
We write to update you on the presidential search. In recent weeks, the Presidential Search Committee met in person with the semi-finalist candidates selected from the original pool of nearly 100 applicants. All of the candidates we interviewed were eminently qualified and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as the 12th president of Connecticut College.
The candidates were asked a structured set of questions and given ample opportunity to ask questions in return about the College. Their questions were thoughtful and probing, and Committee members responded with candor in articulating the College’s strengths, challenges and key areas that will likely be the future president’s focus. Following the interviews, the Committee discussed each candidate in detail and collectively decided which candidates would advance to the next round.
That next phase began last week, with the finalist candidates meeting in person with Committee members and 18 invited interviewers from the staff, faculty and student body, as well as members of the senior administration, Interim President Wong and trustees. We are pleased to note that many of the invited interviewers commented on the high quality of the finalist candidates, which reflects the College’s strong and distinctive reputation in higher education.
These meetings are ongoing and will conclude in early March. The Board of Trustees will then incorporate the rich and comprehensive input we have received to select the 12th president of Connecticut College as outlined in the College’s bylaws.
As we enter the final phase of the search, we are inspired by the generosity and commitment of everyone participating in it, both directly and indirectly. We continue to remain on track in our planned timeline and look forward to announcing the College’s next president in the spring. You will next hear from us when we announce the 12th president of the College.
