There are some sub-questions I am investigating in this study that need to be addressed early, with a discussion of the relevant scholarship. They are as follows: Does
Ovid offer in the Metamorphoses a conception of what it means to be human? Does this conception differ significantly from those of the traditions on which he draws? What
